PeeR pReSsuRe

One negative peer pressure that happened to me was when some of my classmates talked to me about cheating. I felt bad about doing it because my adviser that time gave me her trust and I really didn't want to do it. Though I turned them down about me cheating, I felt glad but disappointed of my classmates. I realized that if those classmates of mine were really my friends, they would not take advantage or use me to pass their subjects. And besides, it's not my loss because I have given all my effort in studying and worked hard in achieving high grades. In the end, though I did not have an academic award, I did get "Best in Computer". And after my classmates got angry for not letting them copy my paper, they spreaded bad rumors about me. My "real" friends told me to ignore it because they already knew who I am and what they told about me was just something to laugh at bacause none of it is true.

RESPONSIBLITY

A responsible person, for me, is mature and knows how to act and control him/herself. But I think that I am that responsible because sometimes I tend to forget doing some of it and acting foolish. My responsibility at home is to help do the chores and take care of my sister. But since I am a bit busy now that I am college, I am having a hard time doing some of it. At school, I have to do my assignments, projects, or activities that are tasked to us. I have to study hard. In our community, my responsibility is to help clean the surroundings. Which now I definitely have no time to do because of classes.

"Honesty" is the Best Policy

The challenge I took for honesty is the challenge to tell the truth. I told my parents that I'm failing my Drawing subject. I felt guilty because my parents were disappointed and they told me that if I repeat it, it would become difficult for me. They asked me if I can still manage to take the course and I said "yes". I realized that its better to tell them the truth that to find out about it later and end up being scolded.

Self- Evaluation: My Personal Health

My personal health is fair for me but there is still a need to develop some of it though. It is best that I must give importance to my health because poor health might pull me down to accomplish doing the tasks that I need to do. I plan to maintain my good practices in developing good health habits, not only in terms of physical, but also in emotional, enviroment and relation. Exercise, eating healthy foods and/or maintaining taking vitamins, good relations with other people and disciplined act in our enviroment are some simple but helpful ways to develop and maintain my health.

"An Inconvinient Truth"

"Did the Earth betray us or did we betray the Earth??..."

The Inconvenient Truth speaks about the possibilities of dreadful phenomenons that can happen to our planet Earth. Exaggerated or not, it is a "wake-up" call that NOW is the right time to act. It is very illuminative in a way that it shows evidence of the current abnormality in the weather. The most striking part of this movie was how little by little the Earth is completely changing.Tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes that has caused death on thousands of people. It was really horrible to watch. Just an instant, your life is taken away from you. It makes me realize of how important it really is now to save the Earth. Progress is not bad in a way that it is helping us but it must also be applied on our enviroment in a way that it will not harm it. For example, we must use enviromental friendly disposable things. We must conserve water. We must recycle, reuse and reduce trash. We must conserve energy that may be harmful on our enviroment. We must practice good trash habits. But it would have been better if the guy who invented water that can be converted to car fuels was supported. This way, pollution is lessened.

ExCeLLenCe

I challenged myself to submit a quality assignment and requirement on NSTP. I was able to beat the challenge. I feel relieved and glad because I knew that we were going to be scolded if we did not pass that requirement. It is important that we do things in time so that we will not rush ourselves and the end up failing to do the task. It is important to succeed in simple tasks so that we can develop ourselves to succeed in other challenges. Thank God I passed it on time because our teacher was disappointed and mad when he found out that some of classmates are not able to pass.

The Most Challenging Thing I have ever Accomplished

The most challenging thing I have accomplish is maybe being able to swim the different types of strokes in my swimming class at my high school. I admit that I am a bit afraid of water. Well, not really, its just that I hate diving in deep waters. And on our swimming lesson there is this after every session, we have to dive. The water was 6 feet and I am nowhere that high in my height, but because we have to do it or else I'll fail, I had no choice. My first diving was so bad. I thought that I was alraedy at the middle where I can catch my breath but found out I was nowhere near it. I panisked and almost drowned. It was a good thing my tallest classmate was asked by our teacher to guide the petite ones. She helped me by pulling me out of the deep part. But there was this time when I found out that my grades on P.E was not so good so I had to take swimming seriuosly and face that deep water. Luckily, I was able to get better grades on the next two quarters of my P.E. And atlast, I know the different storkes and I can conquer fear on deep waters.

Self-Respect/ Respect for Others

1. Looking back at the list of your positive characteristics and qualities, what do you feel and realize about it?
I feel that it was what I need to succeed and that it is who I really am. I realized that most of those positive qualities are revolving around a will of strong determination.

2. The Golden Rule says “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” a. Given the following situations, how would you like to be treated by your teachers and schoolmates: - when you have given wrong answers to the questions during recitation, - when you are expressing your opinion during class or group discussion; - when you are giving suggestions during group work or presentation; - when you commit mistake; - when you don’t like doing what they ask you to do and - when they want to give you their comments or suggestions?
Given by the following situations, I want people to respect me and I will respect them as well. Not all of us are perfect and we do commit mistakes. It's part of our humanity. But what is great about mistakes is that we'll be able to learn what is to do and what not to, this way, we won't have to repeat the same mistakes again and again. Not only do I want respect if I commit mistakes, but also when I give an opinion. I believe we have every right to express our opinions. Also I want my decisions to be respected. Obviously, I have my reason why I decided that way. And in return, I will also respect them as well. Just like how I want to be respected if I cite my opinion, I will also respect their comments and suggestions knowing if it will be good for me or if it will benefit me.

b. Considering the given ideas on how to treat others with respect, what can you commit to yourself in terms dealing with the MCL community: teachers, students, employees, security, maintenance/janitors and canteen personnel?
I will just do my part by respecting others.I will follow their rules or instructions. Treat them like how I treat my friends and help them if they are in need.

VALUES

If you will have one outstanding virtue, what would you want it to be? Why?

If I will have one outstanding virtue, it would be patience. Patience because I tend to give up easily or become lazy at times. I want to become a hardworking person and be successful. And I think hard work is not enough without patience. Without both, but more especially on patience, I cannot attain success. And if I want to become best, I know I must have this to know and apply what I have learn on my mistakes. Also, not having patience is the reason why I am moody at times. I easily lose my temper which has a really bad effect on my relationship with my families or friends. And also, without patience, I think it is difficult to make impossible things possible.

Coping with the Transition to College

1. How was your first week of stay at MCL?
I was quite nervous at my first day at MCL. Ofcourse, I don't know anyone yet besides my past classmates. And the professors seemed strict at first impressions. I think that I'll really have to study hard if I want to pass their subjects. Their grading system is very different from highschool. My drawing professor was fine bit he is very strict when it comes to our drawings. I can't beleive that even thumbmarks are not acceptable for him and he knows! He really wants a CLEAN drawing. My other teachers were funny and they make the subject, that seem boring, interesting. One example is my teacher in Socsci. She told us that we'll be analyzing more on the subject than memorizing. It was good for me because I hate memorizations. While some professors are okay. Also, I noticed some rooms which are cold. The other rooms are fine with me but I hate R300 because it has the coldest temperature inside. It's already freezing once you get in without your jacket. We actually had to go to the restroom to warm ourselves up, once. I also had an experience on the oval. Me and one of my classmates tried racing on it. We didn't perspire but we did ran out of breath. It was fun. But then it was a little bit hard to study because some of the books for our subjects are already out of stack in the bookstore. We had to xerox just so we can do assignments. It was good thing someone had a book to lend us. All in all my first experience in MCL was quite interesting.

2. Describe your professors. What are traits do you find positive in each one?
My drawing professor is funny but he is quite scary when it comes to drawings because he is very strict. Though he is strict, I know he is doing the right thing by teaching us patience, perseverance and discipline. My Socsci teacher is very funny. She has a good way of making the topics very interesting. I'm glad that her lectures were ore on analyzation than on memorizations. My math teacher is approachable. She always reminds us that if ever math confuses us, we must confront her so that she can explain better. My Values education teacher, I have met her in MELT, is also a nice teacher. She also encourages us to speak in English. My Humanities teacher is very funny. She is nice and she tries to relate to some of our age so that she can explain best her lectures. My IT professor has a bit of a low voice. But he tries to make us laugh once in a while. My English teacher is also nice. All in all they are all okay because they try their best so that we can enjoy ourselves in studying and learning from them.

3. Describe your blockmates/section. What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of your section?
My blockmates/section is very "makulit". They are fun to hang out with. Although most of the time they really enjoy teasing some of our classmates, it's still fun to hang out with them. I noticed that we are all "jolly" persons because we smile a lot. They are friendly.
The strengths maybe of our section is our bonding because we always talk about interesting stuffs. Our weaknesses maybe would be shyness because some of us are stiil shy about one another.

4. How do you find your courses? Which ones do you think are easy and which ones do you think are a little bit challenging? Why?
My courses shoul not be gone easy on. I think Values Education would be easy in some ways. But I find Math, Drawing and Socsci a bit challenging. I think they are challenging because I am not at all so great at that subject and I only have an average thinking so I'm still nervous. But I won't say that "I will not pass". I just don't expect a high grade from them.

5. Do you have any adjustment you feel you are going through or must go through? What are they? Cite examples in terms in your academics, emotions, and social environment.
Yes, I feel I have adjustments I must go through. I must work hard more and stop lazing around for a while. I must also have time to take my studies seriuosly. I should know how to organize myself and to moderate myself with my friends or the things I want to try/do like the oval.

The College Life

1. In the first few days you've spent in MCL, how would you compare your highschool life to what you envisioned college life to be?
During my highschool, our teachers would go easy on us at first meeting. That way, we don't get so nervous about how we have to handle responsibilities. The teachers always guide us and makes sure that we follow their directions/instruction correctly. Here in college, just like what one of our teachers mentioned, it is a survival to the fittest. This time, you'll have to catch up quick or else you'll be left behind. We are no longer highschool students that our teachers have to look over us. We have to be responsible in every action that we do.

2. What is the importance of Values Education?
The importance of values education is for students to have balance in their life. It helps us to have implement the right character that must be developed in order to be responsible in the community, have nationalism and faith in God.
